ABOUT ME
A holistic approach
Hi, I’m Suzelle Hortense. I’m a French-born, South London-based, Pilates instructor with a background in contemporary dance and a life-long passion for movement.
I have been teaching Pilates for over 14 years to a range of clients with different abilities, conditions, injuries, and fitness levels. Working with people with these differences has increased my knowledge and understanding of how to better tailor my teaching practice to individual needs.
WHY PILATES?

Pilates can reshape your body, making it stronger, leaner, and more flexible by focusing on key areas, abs, back, glutes, hips, pelvis, and pelvic floor muscles while still giving the body full workout; building muscle in addition to fixing habitual movement patterns that lead to injury.
This functional movement practice helps people live with and freedom from pain by discovering the most efficient ways of moving their bodies As a whole-body system it has many health benefits, including improved flexibility, increased muscle strength improved stabilisation the back and spine as well as stress management and relaxation
GROUP CLASSES
Classes suited to all abilities
Mat classes are a wonderful, accessible way to learn the basic principles of Pilates. The key principles of Pilates are concentration, alignment, centring, breathing, coordination, flowing movements, precision, and strength.
I pride myself on respecting these principles whilst creating accessible, welcoming classes that are suitable for all fitness levels and all body types. All exercises can be adapted to meet you where you are, so no two clients will ever have the exact same experience in a class.
We use different props such as pilates balls, resistance bands, pilates rings and cushions for strengthening, support and alignment. All classes are designed to improve vitality and overall strength by providing exercises adapted to individual client's needs.
Clients are encouraged to listen to their bodies and choose the options that feels best for them and their bodies. The goal is to learn how to best move your body, increase strength and awareness, and to have fun while doing it!
Pilates is particularly beneficial for people suffering with chronic pain, recovering from injury or in need of rehabilitation. I offer a range of classes to help my clients strength and learn to live with vitality!
PRIVATE CLASSES
One-to-one classes
One-to-one classes are the perfect way to address any particular needs. One-to-one classes are offered both online or in-person. I do recommend coming to a group class beforehand (first class is free!) to gauge if my teaching style is suited to you and to discuss any particular goals you are looking to achieve.
